Dr. Sayde Brais is the Associate Department Chair and an Associate Teaching Professor in Communication Studies. She has taught undergraduate courses in the department since 2012 that include Communication Research Methods, Public Speaking, Business Communications, Small Group Communication, and Introduction to Communication Theory.  She has an interest in areas that include student success, first-year learning, high impact practices, and sense of belonging in higher education. Dr. Brais has served as the LEADS Program Faculty Fellow since 2017. She previously served as the SUCCESS Learning Community Coordinator from 2017-2024. Dr. Brais has also served on a number of committees and programs, most notably as a TOP Teacher for the Teachers Observing Peers Program, a member of the Provost’s Student Success Working Group, and a participant in the Student Experience Project. In 2023, Dr. Brais was named an Honorable Mention/Semi-Finalist for the University Teaching Excellence Award.
