Professor Brittney Nix-Crawford is a lecturer in communication studies, journalism, and public relations. Prior to joining the faculty at UNC Charlotte, Professor Nix-Crawford was the Assistant Professor of New Media Communications and Africana Studies at Rosemont College in Rosemont, PA. Professor Nix-Crawford spent over 10 years in news, children’s programming, marketing and promotions. She is a journalist by training where she worked in areas such as marketing, promotions, web news, digital producing, and management at various news stations in the Philadelphia area. Beginning in the Fall 2024, Professor Nix-Crawford will be studying at Clemson University to earn a Ph.D. in Rhetoric, Communication, and Information Design specializing in critical cultural communication and journalism. Her areas of interest include journalism/media studies, public relations, cultural rhetoric, and digital rhetoric. Fun Fact: Professor Nix-Crawford is also a postpartum doula-in-training specializing in black maternal childbirth education.
