Three Department of Communication Studies associate professors were honored at the recent National Communication Association convention.

Dr. Loril Gossett (pictured) shared in a book award for Best Edited Book of 2017-Applied Communication Division. She is a co-editor with two others for “Volunteering and Communication Volume 2: Studies in International and Intercultural Contexts.”

Dr. Margaret Quinlan, meanwhile, shared in the Best Aural Visual Project award in the Ethnography Division for her work on “A Beautiful Remedy,” a documentary about the Arts in Medicine Program at the University of Texas MD Anderson Children’s Cancer Hospital. Dr. Ashli Stokes shared in a top paper award with former MA student and now assistant professor at Virginia Tech Chelsea Woods. The paper, which has been accepted for publication, is about how the NFL handled corporate social responsibility in light of the Ray Rice incident.
