Gibson wins national Speaking Center award

Tiera Gibson, a Department of Communication Studies senior, received the Most Outstanding Undergraduate Tutor award at the National Association of Communication Centers Conference at Grand Valley State University. The conference, April 21-22, allowed representatives from communication centers from around the country — and Tiera was one of ten finalists for the top tutor award.

“The University Speaking Center would not have progressed so quickly without Tiera’s knowledge, support, adaptability, and exceptional consulting skills,” said Debbie Kilby Baker, founding coordinator for the University Speaking Center. “She has been more than a meritorious student consultant. In essence, she has been more like a colleague in helping build the foundation of the speaking center.”
