The Department of Communication Studies at the University of North Carolina, Charlotte invites applications for a non-tenure track position in Communication Studies at the rank of Lecturer. The initial appointment is for three-years with the possibility of renewal depending upon performance, departmental needs, and funding. Review of applications will begin Dec. 10, 2014 and continue until filled. Position begins August 15, 2015. Candidates should demonstrate a commitment to working in a diverse and inclusive institutional environment.

Required qualifications include a Masters in Communication Studies or related field. The selected applicant will teach and advise undergraduate students in the Department of Communication Studies. Primary teaching assignments will include small group communication, interpersonal communication, and research methods. Preference will be given to candidates who can also teach courses in our Media Studies concentration and our Journalism minor. The opportunity to teach courses in other concentrations of communication studies (e.g. Health Communication, Organizational Communication, Public Relations, etc.) is also available and contingent upon departmental needs. Candidates should possess the ability and willingness to develop and teach online courses. Experience and evidence of teaching is required. The selected applicant will be expected to maintain a strong record of teaching, professional activity and service.

The Department of Communication Studies (communication.charlotte.edu) has 28 full-time faculty with areas of emphasis in Health Communication, Organizational Communication, Media Studies, Rhetoric, and Public Relations. There are approximately 1,100 pre-Communication and Communication majors, 250 Journalism and Communication Studies minors and 29 M.A. students in the department.
