About Us
Communication Studies is one of the largest majors in the College of Humanities & Earth and Social Sciences at UNC Charlotte. The Communication Studies discipline focuses on the theoretical, critical, and scientific study of how humans communicate with one another in multiple forms. Our undergraduate program provides students with an examination of communication theory, practices and processes in a variety of contexts, from interpersonal, group, organizational, public and electronically mediated communication.
Communication Studies provides a general social science and humanities education that is valued by employers. Communication Studies majors pursue careers in areas such as public relations, marketing, healthcare, and media. Coupled with another major, Communication Studies provides extra capital for careers in areas such as social work, counseling, politics, law, and business management.
Graduate Program:
The Master of Arts in Communication Studies is designed to provide advanced study in the communication discipline, particularly in the areas of organizational communication, critical media and rhetorical studies, health communication, and public relations.
