Dr. Kruckeberg to Receive Atlas Award

Categories: News

Dr. Dean Kruckeberg, is to be awarded an extraordinarily significant honor. The Public Relations Society of America has announced that Dr. Kruckeberg is to receive the Atlas Award during PRSA’s international convention in Philadelphia in late October.

The Atlas Award is given for “lifetime achievement in international public relations,” and the list of recipients is quite exclusive. Dr. Kruckeberg will joined by only one fellow educator, a leading professor in Brazil.

PRSA is the flagship association for the field of public relations, and its “Educators’ Academy” is only a small component of its 21,000 members. The vast majority of members come from professional practice in corporate, nonprofit and government sectors as well as PR firms. Consequently, this award extends well beyond academic borders. There are also 10,000 student members in the allied Public Relations Student Society of America, including our own UNC Charlotte campus chapter.

Dr. Dean Kruckeberg will be conferred this honor in the presence of representatives from top U.S. and international corporations, global nonprofits, federal agencies, etc. UNC Charlotte and the Communicaiton Studies department is very honored and proud of this great achievement conferred on our colleague.
