Journalism Students Impress at WSOC-TV

A trio of the department’s journalism students have impressed the professionals at a local TV station

Thanks to journalism instructor Debra Tobin, Justin Lape, Annalisha Henderson and Hali Liggins worked with WSOC-TV’s investigative producer to check the backgrounds of more than 1,000 public employees.

“This was very important work, but it was time-consuming and more than our producer could have done on his own in a timely manner,” says Kim Holt, the news station’s manager of investigations and special projects. “Attention to detail was critical.”

The students worked in the newsroom, attended the morning editorial meeting – and networked like pros.

“They made a great impression on all of us – arriving early, working efficiently and being very engaged,” Holt adds. “We hope to welcome them back for more projects down the road!”

Congratulations Hali, Anna and Justin!
